Subject: CVE-2024-26638: nbd: always initialize struct msghdr completely
Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2024 10:15:06 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20240318101458.2835626-16-lee@kernel.org> (raw)

Description
===========

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

nbd: always initialize struct msghdr completely

syzbot complains that msg->msg_get_inq value can be uninitialized [1]

struct msghdr got many new fields recently, we should always make
sure their values is zero by default.

Mitigation
==========

The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest
stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual
changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel
release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or
supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to
the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this
issue can be found at these commits:
