>From what I gather from e.g. drivers/usb/Makefile, you could do it also
this way:
obj-$(CONFIG_IEEE1394) += ieee1394/
+obj-$(CONFIG_PROVIDE_OHCI1394_DMA_INIT) += ieee1394/
