* [PATCH] taprio: Set the value of picos_per_byte before fill sched_entry

If the value of picos_per_byte is set after fill sched_entry,
as a result, the min_duration calculated by length_to_duration is 0,
and the validity of the input interval cannot be judged,
too small intervals couldn't allow any packet to be transmitted.
It will appear like commit b5b73b26b3ca ("taprio:
Fix allowing too small intervals") described problem.
Here is a further modification of this problem.

example:

tc qdisc replace dev enp5s0f0 parent root handle 100 taprio \
              num_tc 3 \
              map 2 2 1 0 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 \
              queues 1@0 1@1 2@2 \
              base-time  1528743495910289987 \
              sched-entry S 01 9 \
	      sched-entry S 02 9 \
	      sched-entry S 04 9 \
              clockid CLOCK_TAI

Sorry for the noise, but I have twice tried to send a PATCH serie to
this list with a copy to linuxppc-dev@lists.ozlabs.org, it appears
properly in the linuxppc list/patchwork but it still doesn't appear on
linux-crypto.

Is there anything wrong with the list ?

This is just a test of the mailman bounce mechanism: I want to be sure
that I receive bounce messages (they have been filtered by SUSE's mail
server).

Please don't accept, reject or discard this message. I'll do it myself.

In case it makes it to the list: please ignore. :-)

Hello!

I was noticing a significant amount of what seems/seemed to be
destination lists with multiple entries with the lblcr LVS algorithm.
While tracking it down, I think I stumbled over a mistake. In
ip_vs_lblcr_full_check(), it appears the time check logic is reversed:

        for (i=0, j=tbl->rover; i<IP_VS_LBLCR_TAB_SIZE; i++) {
                j = (j + 1) & IP_VS_LBLCR_TAB_MASK;

                write_lock(&svc->sched_lock);
                list_for_each_entry_safe(en, nxt, &tbl->bucket[j], list) {
                        if (time_after(en->lastuse+sysctl_ip_vs_lblcr_expiration,
                                       now))
                                continue;

                        ip_vs_lblcr_free(en);
                        atomic_dec(&tbl->entries);
                }
                write_unlock(&svc->sched_lock);
        }

Shouldn't this be "time_before"? It seems that it currently nukes all
recently-used entries every time this function is called, which seems to
be every 30 minutes, rather than removing the not-recently-used ones.

If my reading is correct, this patch should fix it. Am I missing
something?

Cheers,

Simon-

Hi all...

I've put my hands on an old Ruffian box (164UX), and wanted to try Linux
on that alpha. I have used/managed/broken linux on x86(64) for years,
but with this alpha I'm not even able to boot the installer...

System: Samsung 164UX, 1Gb ram, 533 MHZ processor.
ARCS firmware updated to the latest (1.3.062) in
http://www.alphalinux.org/firmware/api/UX/.

I downloaded AlphaCore isos from http://buildsys.zero42.at/iso/.
It looks like it has kernel 2.6.26.

The box had an old Suse installed that I want to completely erase.
It has a fat partition for milo/ldmilo.
I cant get that milo to boot from the CD.

Questions:
- AFAIK, I can not boot from CDROM directly from ARCS. I need milo.
- Where can I get a recent milo for the ruffian ?
   I say recent, because I have read that milo is kernel dependent,
   and perhaps that old milo can't boot the kernel in the cd.
- How should I boot from the CD ?
   I have tried things like
   MILO> boot hda:
   MILO> boot hda:/boot/bootlx
   MILO> boot hda:/kernels/vlinux.gz initrd=/images/initrd.img

   but no luck.

In short, what should I do to boot the installer ???

TIA

* Ethernet driver module compilation (8139too)

Hello,

My Linux 2.4.18 machine has 2 ethernet interfaces: eepro100 and 8139too.

I need to put a minur changes (printk messages) into those drivers, which
are loaded as kernel modules .

I first changed the eepro then compiled it seperatly (with
_DMODULE, -D__KERNEL and the correct path into
/lib/modules/.....) and everything worked well (was able to see my printing
through dmesg).

When I tried to change 8139too, it did not work -- not because of the code
change -- rather , I had some
problems in compiling this module.
When i rebooted the machine the interfaces wer not up, and when I did lsmod
8139too was not there.
I then tried to manually install it (insmod) and was promp with unresolved
external. I found out that
those unresolved belong to mii.o which was not loaded during the boot
process.
When I changed to the original 8139too.o (luckily I have saved it ...) the
machine is ok, mii.o
is loadede , and also 8139too.

I am sure the problem is in the way I compile this module , but i don't know
what is missing ?
I have browsed many Makefiles and could not tell what flags make the
8139too.o tell the boot that
it needs mii.o . The modules.dep file create during boot tme shows that
8139too depends on mii.o,
but from some reason mii.o is ot loaded.

Maybe I can not compile kernel modules seperatly, i.e., kernel modules that
are loaded during bot time ?

Obviosly i can do this procee manually: insmod mii, then 8139 and finally
bring the interface up.
But, i really need to know what went wrong there

Any help will be much appreciated

Chava Leviatan

One of the things that are really bad about the Linux packet radio code
is it's distinct lack of reasonable documentation. So I've setup

  http://www.linux-ax25.org

The site is a wiki meaning that everybody after creating an account can
edit the content using a simple markup language. To get started I've
primed the site with the content of the old ham-radio and AX.25 howtos.

I'm eventually planning to host more software and projects such as my
AX.25 kernel work on that size but for the moment the wiki is what
actually is there.

What is the site intended for? I'd like to phrase it more general than
the domain name may suggest, anything related to Linux and amateur radio
is welcome. Documentation of software, hints on how to get things to
work, background on why things are or have to be the way they are etc.

A potencial future wiki project would be a translation of the wiki to
multiple languages in spirit very similar to wikipedia. It would be
simple for me to setup multiple parallel sites - but starting such a
project would be foolish without the manpower to keep all translations
in sync and maintained. Is there enough interest? I would expect that
answer to be yes at least for some of the major European languages as
shown by the large number of existing translations of howto projects.

So, I'm posting to this list in order to ask others to contribute to the
site, even contributions as small as a spelling fix or a healthy discussion
are welcome.

  Ralf

PS: The linux-ax25.org domain used to be owned somebody else previousl. I'm
    not associated with that person or group. In fact I don't even know
    who they were.

You should be setting it from the main window, not a subsequent one:

Tools->options->[mail format tab] set the compose this message format to
plain text.

The preferences tab from tools->options allow you to set reply styling.

By setting the global you should find that most of your mails end up
correctly....that is not to say every now and thing something strange
doesn't happen. But its more on the order of several months, instead of
every few days.

Regards,

Richard W.

Finally I got booted the SELinux image for the first time and saw quite a few messages with "avc: denied"

I am at step 13 in the README file. In the policy directory I did "make relabel" and got similar type of messages. These
are the same type of messages I saw at boot up time.

===================
avc:  denied  { search } for  pid=848 exe=/usr/bin/perl path=/var/www/mrtg dev=03:01 ino=272926 scontext=system_u:system_r:crond_t tcontext=system_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t tclass=dir

avc:  denied  { remove_name } for  pid=848 exe=/usr/bin/perl path=/var/lock/mrtg/_etc_mrtg.cfg_l_848 dev=03:01 ino=337074 scontext=system_u:system_r:crond_t tcontext=system_u:object_r:var_lock_mrtg_t tclass=dir

avc:  denied  { unlink } for  pid=848 exe=/usr/bin/perl path=/var/lock/mrtg/_etc_mrtg.cfg_l_848 dev=03:01 ino=337074 scontext=system_u:system_r:crond_t tcontext=system_u:object_r:var_lock_mrtg_t tclass=file

avc:  denied  { write } for  pid=848 exe=/usr/bin/perl path=/var/lib/mrtg/_etc_mrtg.cfg dev=03:01 ino=337333 scontext=system_u:system_r:crond_t tcontext=system_u:object_r:var_lib_mrtg_t tclass=file
===================

What part of the policy do I need to look at to avoid these messages? Or is this a standard security message?

I have no complaints - just trying to solve a problem. I tried twice, 7
days apart, to resubscribe to the list, and got this back from the Major
both times:

**** Address already subscribed to linux-newbie

Other linux lists I subscribe to are coming through with no problem; one
noteworthy difference between them and this list is that they use mailman as
a list manager rather than majordomo.

The test message I sent to the list never showed up in my Inbox, and I
suspect your response did only because you included my personal address.
I'll pay a visit to my IT group and see if they're up to something.

Thanks for the quick response.

Dave

I would like to add that I did two resizing tests:
1) 3 disks, no spare -> 4 disks, no spare
2) 3 disks, 1 spare -> 4 disks, 1 spare

The first test went OK, the second failed, as reported
in my previous mail. I have noticed a similar problem
reported a few months ago on the list. If it helps
I can repeat the experiment and report all the details.

I have not seen any emails from linux-kernel for some days.
Even tried to resubscribe - Majordomo succeeded in sending me the Confirmation

But nothing...

So I have to try this...
