Its only an issue if you are using very old boot loaders (circa Red Hat
6 and equivalent date other distros)

No. Likely candidates on a big cluster would be general "Haven't
updated" to current vendor kernel things as a start, especially if
you are using the tg3 driver for your ethernet.
