Kernel log is shown by the dmesg command. The kernel has a certain amount of memory for the log, so only older messages are not shown once the memory is exhausted. However, it's normally enough memory to hold the full log from the boot time. Kernel messages are normally logged to /var/log/messages, but the debug messages may be omitted. The kernel messages during the boot are preserved in /var/log/dmesg until the next reboot. -- Regards, Pavel Roskin
