no idea what goes wrong here, but the network or your modem firmware
basically tells you that the IP address is not set.

Run with OFONO_PPP_DEBUG=1 and see if it gives you more details.

Hi All,

Thanks for reply. Maybe I have a step abnormal not reported. Command
"AT+CGDATA=\"PPP\",%u" is not responded correctly. That is, the first
parameter of at_cgdata_cb is not ture. but I just ignored it, and go
to setup_ppp(gc) forcibly. Can you please give me any advice. Your
 reply is appreciated.

Slackware 7.x lacks /dev/ppp which is needed to do ppp with 2.4.x kernel
, I had the same problem when I moved my slack 7.0 box to 2.4 You also
need newer pppd . The steps you have to take are in
/your-linux-source-dir/Documentation/Changes . There is a ppp section in
there . Read it and follow its instructions .

  Kind regards ,

We can help you, IF you submit ALOT more information, f.e.:

- Kernel .config
- lspci -vvv
- what software you exactly use to call to your ISP.
(what the hell is ppp-go?) ;) ... updating this ones?

Maybe you want to use a newer kernel? 2.4.9 is evil old you know?! :)

get a newer ppp - it is listed in the changes file.

Yes, but kppp messes up the serial handshake quite badly. I don't really
know where the errors are coming from, but you could try a new (2.1.13x or
2.2.0-preX) kernel. At least one source of bad checksum packets was fixed
some time since 2.1.24

The kernel is 2.1.24. Actually, if I start ppp as root from console, I
don't see lot packets transfer. If the machine is freshly rebooted and
I login from a regular user's X-window, using 'su -', then problem
will come up. It seems to me the machine sends out packets and then
the packets loop back.

The "Bad checksum" message has nothing to do with X-window.

Thanks

May be a little out of date but wonder if any one found same problem
in R5.

I erased my June/97 installation and made a clean install of R4-lite
on a powercenter 150. Then I found the ppp doesn't work as well as
before: the machine recieves a lot packets even nothing is being
transfered (it happens on a random base). Using communicator4.05,
which comes with the R4-lite, the machine got frozen very often. Is
this a known problem? Anyway I can get into kernel debug mode to make
a dump? Or if is there still some way to kill the X-window? (not KDE
but fvwm2. I disabled KDE)

I am not on this mail list so please send email directly to me if you
have any info.

Thanks a lot.

Jun Kong
