To build FIP for Juno, we need to set BL33 for non-BL33
there is no need to build the FIP, so this patch adjust
the make to handle both scenarios.

For building U-Boot proper in Allwinner A64/H5, ATF need
to build first and ATF binary need to be exported.

U-Boot-bundles-ATF support export ATF binary and disable
U-Boot dependency in ATF becuase except U-Boot dependent
boards(like juno) ideally ATF will build prior to U-Boot.

+Subject: [PATCH] arm64: allwinner: a64: add NMI (R_INTC) controller on A64
+
+Allwinner A64 SoC features a R_INTC controller, which controls the NMI
+line, and this interrupt line is usually connected to the AXP PMIC.
+
+Add support for it.

+Intro
+=====
+
+This default configuration will allow you to start experimenting with the
+buildroot environment for the A64-OLinuXino. With the current configuration
+it will bring-up the board, and allow access through the serial console.
+
+A64-OLinuXino link:
+
+Wiki link:
+
+This configuration uses U-Boot mainline and kernel mainline.
+
+How to build
+============
+
+ $ make olimex_a64_olinuxino_defconfig
+ $ make
+
+Note: you will need access to the internet to download the required
+sources.
+
+How to write the SD card
+========================
+
+Once the build process is finished you will have an image called "sdcard.img"
+in the output/images/ directory.
+
+Copy the bootable "sdcard.img" onto an SD card with "dd":
+
+ $ sudo dd if=output/images/sdcard.img of=/dev/sdX
+ $ sudo sync
+
+Insert the micro SDcard in your A64-OLinuXino and power it up. The console
+is on the serial line, 115200 8N1.

+
+This default configuration will allow you to start experimenting with the
+buildroot environment for the Orangepi Zero Plus2. With the current configuration
+it will bring-up the board, and allow access through the serial console.

I intend to review this series (since I commented on the previous
iterations), but haven't gotten to it yet.

Just for the record: you are posting to two public mailing lists here,
while those exchanges should probably be private.

That being said, if you're sending BananaPi boards, I'm also
interested :-)

Thanks :-)

Wow I've been waiting for BR support for these builds for a long time now.
Thanks a lot for this. I have a orangepi zero and nanopi neo2 I could test
on later next week.

Pinging over and over again is useless. All patches are recorded by
patchwork, none of them will be lost.

If you want your patches to be reviewed faster, help shrinking the
patchwork backlog by reviewing/testing patches submitted by others.

By pinging like you're doing, the only effect is to annoy the
reviewers/maintainers.

Best regards,

Thomas

What is this "bl31" additional variable doing?

Aren't you hijacking the ADDITIONAL_VARIABLES thing to call the bl31
make target ?

I understand it works, but it's a hack.

Source build varies based on the exception levels switches, like bl31
we have bl31, bl2, bl1

Since ADDITIONAL_VARIABLES resembles to use additional parameters for
ATF build, I've treated bl31 as additional variable for this ATF

thanks!

Since I was not super happy with this proposal to solve the ATF/U-Boot
building problem for Allwinner A64/H5, I just submitted a different
patch series (which re-uses some of your work, authorship preserved).
Could you see what you think about my proposal ?

See:

 http://lists.busybox.net/pipermail/buildroot/2017-December/208788.html

If my proposal gets merged, then it would be nice if you could rebase
your defconfig patches on top of it. It's mainly a matter of adding a
few more ATF options and tweaking U-Boot options.

Thanks a lot!

Yes, this is what I proposed in previous versions[1], unfortunately ie
not moving further. Happy that now it has better shape to move.

Yes, will do.

It is not trivial to solve this problem in a nice and pretty fashion,
especially due to the ATF->U-Boot and U-Boot->ATF possible dependencies.

So my proposal is a proposal I find better, but I don't pretend it's
the perfection either.

Those are not exception levels, but just stages of ATF: BROM loads bl1,
which (optionally) loads bl2 and possibly bl31 (if bl2 does not do this).
Various platforms can implement only a subset of these stages, the
Allwinner port chose to only implement bl31.
Technically we should express this in the Makefile snippets, so that
"make all" just builds bl31, but that's not easy to do in the Allwinner
port.

I have the same feeling as Thomas: bl31 is just a make target (instead
of "all" and/or "fip"). So it should be treated like this. Using
ADDITIONAL_VARIABLES sounds like a hack.

Cheers,
Andre.

See the series I have posted at
http://lists.busybox.net/pipermail/buildroot/2017-December/208788.html
for a proposal that (among other things) supports bl31 as a proper make
target.

Best regards,

Thomas

All the ATF changes has been submitted by Thomas. So it should be ok to submit
support for all these boards. Do you plan to do so any time soon ? Let me know
if you are busy with other tasks at the moment. Then I would re-submit a part
of this patchset related to Orange Pi Zero Plus2 (keeping your authorship)
and adding WiFi support on top.

Regards,
Sergey

I'm in between with rebase and respective changes, will send it soon
and copy you as well, thanks!
