Hi Rich!

Any chances you can send the PR for 5.9 to Linus this week?

Thanks,
Adrian

I spoke to him on the phone wednesday evening and he said he was working on it,
but then I spoke to him on the phone a week earlier and he said he was working
on it then too.

*shrug* I've been pulling daily to see if it got merged. No luck yet...

Would it be possible to include Geert's fix for the IDE interface
of the LANDISK USL-5P devices [1]?

Yep, I'm preparing the pull request and was just about to ask if it
should be included. Anything else not in next already that should be?

Great.

Let me check out your -next tree and see what we already have.

In any case, it should be Geert's patches to clean up printing
kernel messages, the 10 fixes by Christoph, Michael's patch for
SECCOMP, my patch and Matthew's patch to fix the unneeded constructor.

I'll compare your tree and linux-next if we're missing anything.

@Geert: What about that patch to fix the serial interface on LANDISK?

Just had a look and also compiled and test-ran the kernel from for-next
on my SH7785LCR system. Works fine and all known issues are fixed.

So, from my side it's a go ahead ;-).

sh-for-5.9 (including the landisk fix) has been merged.

It's a fix for serial parity handling for SCIF, and thus not really needed for
a serial console. No need to worry, as it's already in.

Great. Then I hope we can work on the device tree stuff in the near future ;-).

My hope is that with device tree support in the kernel for SH, it might be easier
to re-add support for the NextVoD devices of which I have plenty of.

Sounds good. I think most of it in principle isn't that bad to rebase,
but I hit lots of breakage a couple years back when I tried making the
PCI code work, and that was a show-stopper since it broke my emulated
environment. Let's look at it again now.

In principle this is true, but there was a lot of out-of-tree stuff in
STlinux that may be needed to support their SoC "platform devices". We
need to find and archive git repos of that if possible, or otherwise
at least the latest releases, to study and determine what's actually
needed.

Geert has got a LANDISK device working now that I sent to him (hence the
bug fixes he sent), so I'm confident we will be able to fix the remaining
issues with combined forces :-).

I have already started looking into this.
