But yahoo did change the way that people login into their chat servers for the ymsg protocol, otherwise the ymsg protocol didn't change. Many yahoo chat capable clients have been updated for this, eg zinc, curphoo, gyach and gaim. For it to work in gaim you have to get one of the recent versions, if memory serves me right at least version 0.7 or newer I had trouble compiling gaim from source because of some dependency regarding ssl, so I don't have a personal experience using it, but I have seen several people in chatrooms using it.
