I just wanted to point out a thread I just found on the ArchLinux forums which
describes the same issue, with many people reportedly experiencing this
problem:

One user ('vootey') who has attempted to bisect the kernel appears to have
isolated the same region of commits that I have identified: "I'm trying to git
bisect the kernel and until now I was able to narrow the bug (for me) down to
the higher 2.6.33 area.".
So at least now I know I'm not alone :(
