Same here: MacBook Pro (5,2) Ubuntu 11.10 alpha 3 and Fedora 16 alpha.
nouveau.noaccel=1 boots on Ubuntu for me, not tried that on Fedora yet. But
nomodeset works for both, although I am not able to resume from suspend then
(might be bug #38350).
