ISL29028 is concurrent Ambient light and proximity sensor
from intersil.
Adding driver for supporting this device.

Also adding details of interface proximity_sampling_period
in documentation.

Intersil's ISL29028 is concurrent Ambient Light and
Proximity Sensor device.
Add driver to access the light and IR intensity and
proximity value via iio interface.

Looks nice. You went above and beyond and cleaned up a couple
things I didn't mention. Thanks.

I've not data sheet dived enough to pin down what this is. If it is
related to how
often a reading is taken then it should be
in_proximity0_sampling_frequency (in Hz)
If that is the case I'd add a sampling frequency element to the
info_mask (I'm sure
this isn't the last time we will see a frequency control applying to a
subset of channels)

I see there is also control of the number of samples that must be high
for events to
happen. Now that one is called period in is in seconds.

range of what? Preference is for scale instead and should probably be
per channel,
done through the info_mask.

There's a bit of a rework going on over how this handled so you might
hit that if it merges before you do. If not I'll fixup as necessary.

Clean and mostly fine. A few issues with abi compliance on frequency
and range control though...

Ah, that explains what it is. Sorry, use
in_proximitiy0_sampling_frequency to provide equivalent
control please. Might be a pain here, but this interface will just
provide the same info as the existing
one in a different form. Note that sampling_frequency is documented as
a general one, but can
be extended to individual channels.

Actually add it to the iio-core as an element in the info_mask as I
doubt this will be the last time
we see this control. This will need to be a precursor patch to the
driver obviously.

IIO_CHAN_INFO_SAMP_FREQ and the relevant shared and separate macros need
to go in
iio.h + the text entry in industrialio-core.c

If you like I can do this but it'll be quicker if you do :)

Ooop, I did not realize that it is there as part of sysfs.h. I was
looking for other header to get support for this. I can use this for
proximity only but I think I should go with you other suggestion to
implement this on channel basis. This will help also in future for other
drivers to have different sampling on different channel.

I will send the patch for implementing this first and then modified
version of my driver which actually uses this one.
