sorting out some diffs between the official Arcea driver and 
the newest 3.18 patches I found a patch that might got lost:

Looks sensible to me.  Did you test it?

No not really, as I don't know how. We had a controller crash the last
week and I was wondering about the differences between vendor and
upstream version. So I basically did some code comparison between 
the two source. Besides a lot of layout differences and other hacks 
this was one of the first things I noticed and wondered what difference 
those flags could make. Especially regarding stability.

Hopefully Ching and/or Tomas know better as they seem repsonsible 
for the rest of the 3.18 arcmsr patches.

Sorry - No idea. We are on a stock kernel (3.10 longterm no vendor driver) 
and have to decide which way to go ... Sadly quite limited test possibilites. 
None of the two options feels 100% comfortable.

@Ching: Does any of the patches fit for stable?

We are using a Areca 1261ML controller with the 3.12 stock drivers. 
So not the official Areca ones. From reading the change logs for 
3.18 I anticipate that the following fixes are important for stability
and might therefore be valid for -stable.

arcmsr: fix command timeout under heavy load
arcmsr: limit max. number of SCSI command request
arcmsr: return status of abort command

BTW: The same seems to apply for the lost patch about notify
sense data.

Thanks for providing the source code. Nevertheless I would like to see
the patch https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/2/20/956 resubmitted to linux
standard kernel.
