Orangepi Zero Plus 2 is an open-source single-board computer, available in two
Allwinner SOC variants, H3 and H5. We add support for H3 variant here, as the
H5 is already supported by sun50i-h5-orangepi-zero-plus2.dts.

H5 Orangepi Zero Plus 2 has
- Quad-core Cortex-A7
- 512MB DDR3
- micrSD slot and 8GB eMMC
- Debug TTL UART
- HDMI
- Wifi + BT
- OTG+power supply

The H5 version doesn't make that easy, and it's unfortunate, but we
should have a different compatible for the H3 and H5 versions.

What about something like xunlong,orangepi-zero-plus2-h3?

I guess it is the BT chip? Which chip is it?

Yes, I think this is the only reasonable option. I'll send v2.

Yes, according to schematics Bluetooth is on uart1.
It's an Ampak 6212A with a Broadcom 43438 chip. To my understanding
it's the same chip in the Raspberry Pi 3 B / B+ and Raspberry Zero W.

I've tried to integrate support for Bluetooth with the following:

&uart1 {
    pinctrl-names = "default";
    pinctrl-0 = <&uart1_pins>, <&uart1_rts_cts_pins>;
    status = "okay";

    bluetooth {
        compatible = "brcm,bcm43438-bt";
        max-speed = <2000000>;
        shutdown-gpios = <&pio 0 10 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; /* PA10 */
        device-wakeup-gpios = <&pio 9 2 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; /* PL2 */
        host-wakeup-gpios = <&pio 0 20 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; /* PA20 */
    };
};

but the hci_bcm driver doesn't load automatically and doesn't probe
the device when loaded manually. I haven't investigated further.

&uart1 {
    pinctrl-names = "default";
    pinctrl-0 = <&uart1_pins>, <&uart1_rts_cts_pins>;
    status = "okay";

    bluetooth {
        compatible = "brcm,bcm43438-bt";
        max-speed = <2000000>;
        shutdown-gpios = <&pio 0 10 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; /* PA10 */
        device-wakeup-gpios = <&pio 9 2 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; /* PL2 */
        host-wakeup-gpios = <&pio 0 20 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; /* PA20 */
    };
};

but the hci_bcm driver doesn't load automatically and doesn't probe
the device when loaded manually. I haven't investigated further.

Orangepi Zero Plus 2 is an open-source single-board computer, available in two
Allwinner SOC variants, H3 and H5. We add support for H3 variant here, as the
H5 is already supported by sun50i-h5-orangepi-zero-plus2.dts.

H3 Orangepi Zero Plus 2 has
- Quad-core Cortex-A7
- 512MB DDR3
- micrSD slot and 8GB eMMC
- Debug TTL UART
- HDMI
- Wifi + BT
- OTG+power supply

I would expect to have a clock and psosibly a regulator needed to
before being able to power the BT chip properly. You probably want to
double check the polarity of the GPIOs too.

At this point, the driver and the bindings are there, so there's no
real excuse to not enable it in the DT.

Like I said in the mail from a minute ago, we either want the serdev
node, or no BT node at all and leave it for later.

The rest looks fine, thanks!

Hi,

I was going to send a similar patch to the mailing list and found your
discussion. Please, consider adopting additional stuff from my version:

 - LEDs. See the `leds` node.

 - EHCI/OHCI. I did not check which of the `ehci*`/`ohci*` nodes are relevant,
 yet I can confirm, that both USB ports from the expansion port are functional.

 - Analog audio. See the `codec` node. I've tested the lineout only.

Regards,
Peter

* [PATCH v3] ARM: dts: sun8i: Add initial Orangepi Zero Plus 2 H3 support
@ 2018-08-03  7:56     ` Diego Rondini

Orangepi Zero Plus 2 is an open-source single-board computer, available in two
Allwinner SOC variants, H3 and H5. We add support for H3 variant here, as the
H5 is already supported by sun50i-h5-orangepi-zero-plus2.dts.

H3 Orangepi Zero Plus 2 has:
- Quad-core Cortex-A7
- 512MB DDR3
- microSD slot and 8GB eMMC
- Debug TTL UART
- HDMI
- Wifi + BT
- OTG + power supply

Signed-off-by: Diego Rondini <diego.rondini@kynetics.com>

---
Changes for v3:
- removed uart1 node until we have working Bluetooth support

Changes for v2:
- add "-h3" suffix to compatible name
- fix wrong "H5" in the commit message

Orangepi Zero Plus 2 is an open-source single-board computer, available in two
Allwinner SOC variants, H3 and H5. We add support for H3 variant here, as the
H5 is already supported by sun50i-h5-orangepi-zero-plus2.dts.

H3 Orangepi Zero Plus 2 has:
- Quad-core Cortex-A7
- 512MB DDR3
- microSD slot and 8GB eMMC
- Debug TTL UART
- HDMI
- Wifi + BT
- OTG + power supply

Changes for v3:
- removed uart1 node until we have working Bluetooth support

Changes for v2:
- add "-h3" suffix to compatible name
- fix wrong "H5" in the commit message
