Thanks for pointing it out. Just when I apply two last fixes before
sending out the
fixes pull request to Linus, I make a mess of the trivial fix...

I'll send a rebased branch right now and added my SoB, which should fix the
problem. It also includes a stable branch for the power domain bindings, which
let to a compilation error. Maybe you didn't noticed as you already pulled the
stable tree in from another source, but anyway, should be fixed now in our tree
as well.

Sorry for the mess. We will do better in the future.
I'll send the pull request now in a separate email as you asked me to.

Regards,
Matthias

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I've pushed out
the fixed soc/arm branch and the for-next branch now.

for-next still has both the broken and the fixed
commit until I regenerate it.

branch still contains both commits, but only the new one is going to be
part of the branches I send to Linus.

I just did. Is there a way to prevent this from happening when one
rebase a branch that was partially committed by someone else?

git rebase --signoff doesn't seem to detect if there's already a SoB, so
it might produce duplicates which isn't great either.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I've removed it from the arm-soc-fixes tree
now (it's still in for-next for the moment, but I won't send that to Linus).

Maxime, can you resend the bugfix as a patch or pull request with your
signoff added?

Yes, I think it's too late, I did a lot of merges yesterday and would
rather not rebase them.

Yes, I think it's too late, I did a lot of merges yesterday and would
rather not rebase them.

This is definitively very useful, and after being burned by improper
Fixes: tag recently, I ended modifying your check_fixes script and
putting in my list of pre-commit scripts to run with a wrapper around,
although that required making a few modifications:

- add an optional second parameter to let you specify a hook mode which
derives the git tree from the current directory

- added negative return codes upon error

- added a "did you mean" when the SHA1 cannot be found but the subject
was correct

I am not sure what is the intention of the target_subject vs. subject
check as it seems to always fail for me when using a commit that I used
as a test for the script, e.g.:

subject: net: systemport: Simplify queue mapping logic
target_subject: net: systemport: Fixed queue mapping in internal ring map

under what circumstances do you have both subjects match?

Cheers

Nothing needed at this time.

The point of making sure maintainers sign off on patches is to track
their path into the tree. In this case we still know it comes in via
you. But make sure you're diligent on this for future patches.

Thanks!

Looks like I accidentally rebased the fixes branch locally after
merging that patch in. Will fixup, thanks for reporting.

Some people rebase their tree to fix these up, some just take it as a

Thanks for the report.

What script do you use to find those? I guess I should check for
missing signoffs as well when pulling a branch.

Patrice, I've dropped the merge now, and picked up the one
patch in it directly, with my signoff. This should fix the issue this
time, but please make sure you always sign off patches when
you apply them from the list.

        Arnd

Thanks for the report.

What script do you use to find those? I guess I should check for
missing signoffs as well when pulling a branch.

Patrice, I've dropped the merge now, and picked up the one
patch in it directly, with my signoff. This should fix the issue this
time, but please make sure you always sign off patches when
you apply them from the list.

Thanks, Stephen. I need to get a similar script going to catch these
things in our own tree.

Since this was a clean revert, I've redone it myself, carrying over
descriptions from the pull request and keeping attribution to Kevin.

Hi all,

Commit

  5f56b7f4854a ("Revert "Merge tag 'scpi-updates-4.15' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sudeep.holla/linux into next/drivers"")

Reverts are commits as well and so need an explanation of why they

Yeah, I'm interested as well as I'm already using a pre_push hook to check
