The allocation information is necessary because LSMs have different policies regarding the lifecycle of these strings. SELinux allocates and destroys them on each use, whereas Smack provides a pointer to an entry in a list that never goes away. The allocation information is necessary because LSMs have different policies regarding the lifecycle of these strings.
