It got broken when I moved it to happen during connector init rather than doing it in a roundabout way from .get_modes(). I also did a bunch of refactoring to the output setup code because the code was a mess. Note that a lot of the output handling (especially for multi-output encoders) is still pretty broken so more patches probably still coming at some point.
