Summary: No front channels on AC3
Description:
I can't hear any sound playing any ac3 track with xine. Same with 2.6.14.3
kernel.

Which alsa-driver version do you use? Check with "cat
/proc/asound/version".
You need to use alsa-driver version 1.0.10 if you use alsa-lib 1.0.10,
since the FX ports used by the front PCM channels in the surround modes
have changed.
You could try /usr/share/alsa/cards/EMU10K1.conf from alsa-lib (libasound2
in Debian) version 1.0.9 instead of upgrading, but I'm not sure it works.
