my acer travelmate 4001WLmi looks like this:

Device (SMBC)
                     {
                         Name (_HID, "ACPI0001")
                         Name (_EC, 0x1820)
                         Device (SBS0)
                         {
                             Name (_HID, "ACPI0002")
                             Name (_SBS, 0x02)
                         }
                     }

it's exactly the same as your example.

what kind of information can i extract from this code? from your e-mail 
i get that 0x1820 is the EC controller address... but where is that 
address used? is it an SMBUS address? is it something else?
