Hrm, you should never concat a name like this.  A better approach would be:

visit_start_struct(v, NULL, f);
visit_type_int16_t(v, &tp->t_rxtshift, "t_rxtshift", &err);
...
visit_end_struct(v, NULL, f);

structs indicate hierarchy.  They don't have to correspond to real types.
