Thanks for the info about your distro and YP version.

It's odd that 'test' isn't part of your coreutils install.
    https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+package/coreutils

Is it possible that you have removed it somehow?
If so you could try:

$ sudo apt install --reinstall coreutils
or
$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall coreutils
