Hoping that I can possibly get a pointer on what I¹m doing wrong w/ ath10k
and hostapd.

I¹m running a 3.14 kernel and installed the 3.15-rc-1 backports. I can
start hostapd, but no matter what I do, I can¹t see the SSID. I have also
just tried to use N by itself.

I am using a WLE900V5-23 card.

The things that I¹ve noticed so far is that I am unable to use the v2
firmware additionally, even w/ the v1 firmware, I get a:

ath10k: Invalid firmware magic

Also, iw doesn¹t seem to report everything :

iw wlan0 info:

Interface wlan0
	ifindex 3
	type AP
	wiphy 0

Here is some dmesg:

You need firmware-2.bin. Please get the 4.1.467-2.1 version firmware and put it
in your firmware directory...

What OS is this?

Thanks,
Ben

That firmware-2.bin looks way too small, should be around 200kbytes.

Where did you get it from?

Thanks,
Ben

So I grabbed it again - I just did a wget before, maybe something got
garbled there.

Thanks again for the help though.

It's using the new firmware, I don't think mod-info
is entirely correct.

Others have reported problems with upstream firmware and
bridging, but not sure if that is your problem or not.

You might try: dmesg | grep "crash"
to see if firmware is crashing.

Or, remove the bridge logic from your hostapd config
file.

Or possibly, give my firmware a try:

http://www.candelatech.com/ath10k.php

I haven't done any testing with ath10k APs in
a bridge yet, so no idea how well or not it actually
works.

Thanks,
Ben

I haven't tried your specific NIC, but the WLE900VX works well for me.

Could try power-cycling..ath10k can get hung such that only a power-cycle
fixes it sometimes.

Thanks,
Ben

I think that after your help w/ the FW copy (or whatever it was) this
turns out to be an example of no RTFM.

I was deceived since I could see scans from the STA, but it turns out that
this card needs a separate 5v input to actually work. ;-)

The wife and I are using it right now.

Thanks again for all your assistance.
