From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: Russell King Subject: [PATCH] sfp: allow cotsworks modules Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2018 11:18:25 +0100 Message-ID: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Cc: netdev@vger.kernel.org To: Andrew Lunn , Florian Fainelli Return-path: Received: from pandora.armlinux.org.uk ([78.32.30.218]:45850 "EHLO pandora.armlinux.org.uk" rhost-flags-OK-OK-OK-OK) by vger.kernel.org with ESMTP id S1750820AbeC1KS3 (ORCPT ); Wed, 28 Mar 2018 06:18:29 -0400 Content-Disposition: inline Sender: netdev-owner@vger.kernel.org List-ID: Cotsworks modules fail the checksums - it appears that Cotsworks reprograms the EEPROM at the end of production with the final product information (serial, date code, and exact part number for module options) and fails to update the checksum. Work around this by detecting the Cotsworks name in the manufacturer field, and reducing the checksum failures to warnings rather than a hard error.
