Hello all,
Ive been trying to compile u-boot0.4 for the mpc8266ads board. I am using
the hardhat ppc-cross compiler and am coming across problems with the
compilation. First of all make fails at a bootp error which can be fixed by
placing parenthesis around the #define. It next fails in the examples folder
where I think it is trying the hello_world.bin & others and this can be
fixed by doing a chmod on each of the examples it fails on. Just wondering
if anyone is coming across the same problems and if any official fixes are
available for this? After I change these the project compiles ok.
Cheers

I proposed a patch a while ago that addressed this issue. There is a bug
and undocumented feature in the Hardhat objdump program. It can not convert
between .bin and .srec. However there is a ppcboot option to their utility
that works.

Kumar,
Does this RFC also include support for identifying and initializing more than one DDR module?

Hi

I am using a MPC8349 based board. I have ported the U-boot-1.3.2. When i
transfer some files using the TFTP command the board hangs. Please find
the attached console output. However if i enable ET_DEBUG its getting
through and also tftp transfer is successful from the kernel. Are there
any fixes available for TSEC.

Perhaps its a problem of the U-Boot NAND driver for your platform. Is this
board/platform supported in the official U-Boot version? What platform are
you using btw? And are using software or hardware ECC generation in the NAND
driver?

Best regards,
Stefan

I see is ECC errors for every read such as the following.
mtd->read(0x400 bytes from 0x0) returned ECC error read(0x7c3c bytes
mtd->from 0x3c4) returned ECC error

I also noticed a bunch of magic bitmask erros such as the following.
jffs2_scan_eraseblock(): Magic bitmask 0x1985 not found at 0x0007861c:
0x0162 instead
jffs2_scan_eraseblock(): Magic bitmask 0x1985 not found at 0x00078620:
0x61c8 instead

I wrote the image by doing (my file system partition is at offset
0x460000 and my jffs2 image size is 0x288000 downloaded to 0x80700000):
	# nand erase 0x460000 0x288000
	# nand write.jffs2 0x80700000 0x460000 0x288000

I can successfully write this same image from a booted Linux system
using the "nandwrite" command.

I am including the list here. Any help someone can give on writing a
JFFS2 image into NAND Flash would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Maz,

Three answers, none very satisfactory:

1) http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

2) Support for the x86 architecture is not very active in u-boot so I
don't know how much help you will get from fellow sufferers. :-/

3) Read the README in the top level u-boot directory, especially...

"Testing of U-Boot Modifications, Ports to New Hardware, etc.:"
<http://www.denx.de/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=u-boot.git;a=blob;f=README;h=3dad5fc726f76e72eaa797a31370cca8348e03b3;hb=HEAD#l2476>

"U-Boot Porting Guide:"
<http://www.denx.de/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=u-boot.git;a=blob;f=README;h=3dad5fc726f76e72eaa797a31370cca8348e03b3;hb=HEAD#l3592>

Hi all,

help please, I have a board with AT91RM9200 and AT49BV6416. Everything works fine but atmel stopped to produce the flash. So I'd like to use AT49BV642D. Do everybody have any version (the higher the better) of u-boot working with this new flash chip ? If so, could send me a patch ??

Thanx for help

Hi All,
I am trying to compile the u-boot for loading into the 7109 cut 3.0 coco ref board. Could anybody tell me what should be the right board name which I should use in the following command:

                                        Make distclean
                                        Make <BOARD NAME>_config
Please let me know if you have got any information about it .

Hi,

The patch attached adds support for the Infineon ADM5120 (formerly ADMtek
ADM5120) SoC to U-Boot. This SoC can be found in countless low-end router
products. See
	http://www.linux-mips.org/wiki/Adm5120#Products_based_on_the_ADM5120
for a list of devices using the ADM5120.

This patch applies cleanly if my previous patches have been applied:
1. pnx8550support.diff
2. nxp_i2c.diff
3. mips_timer2.diff
4. nxp_pci.diff
5. serial_pl010.patch (required)

This U-Boot port for ADM5120 is a private project of mine.

With kind regards,

	Robert.

Are you sure you cross-compile the busybox you iunstalled for the
target system?

Note that all this is completely off topic on this list.

Stefan,

Thank you for the init.S file. But the problem still persists.

Here is what I get:
U-Boot 1.1.4 (Oct 1 2006 - 02:58:55)

CPU: AMCC PowerPC 440GX Rev. F at 800 MHz (PLB=160, OPB=80, EBC=40
MHz)
       I2C boot EEPROM enabled
       Internal PCI arbiter enabled
       32 kB I-Cache 32 kB D-Cache
Board: Ocotea - AMCC PPC440GX Evaluation Board
I2C: ready
DRAM: DIMM slot 0: populated
DIMM slot 1: populated
DIMM slot 0: DDR SDRAM detected
DIMM slot 1: DDR SDRAM detected
DIMM 0 voltage level supported.
Finish program_cfg0
Finish program_cfg1
Finish program_rtr
tr0: 410b401a
Finish program_tr0
Finish program_bxcr Total_Size 805306368 <---- Here is part of the
problem this should return about a 1Gig of memory but it only returns
805Megs.

If I try only one dimm and move it to either slot it shows the correct
amount but with two dimms the calculation is wrong.

It seems like I am miss about two (or one) banks from the Dimm which I
assume equals 256M.

I am still working on what is causing the wrong amount.

Gerald

Only 768MB? Does this mean you are using more than 512MB? As I mentioned

earlier, this can't work right now. The TLB setup is for a max. of
512MB.

Please try the attached init.S file. It fixes the issue mentioned by
Marc
Howard _and_ adds TLB entries for a max. of 1GB of DDR. It will be
checked
into the official git tree in a few days.

Please let me know if this changes anything.

Best regards,
Stefan

Stefan,

I look more into using both dimms issue and I see two interesting
things.

1. With two dimms it never get pass line 1478 - 1500 in spd_sdram.c. It
loops once then hangs.

2. If I disable this part (ie break) I get the ERROR: Cannot determine a
common read delay. If I comment out the hang() It returns but it only
calculated 768MB of memory.

Any sugguests?

Gerald

Ideals? Not really. But I have an idea! ;-)

How did you get the Board? Directly from AMCC? Did it never work at all?

Your PLB frequency seems strange to me (160MHz). Please try to configure
your
Ocotea to use a different setup, for example 533MHz CPU and 133MHz PLB.
Here
is the output from our Ocotea:

Stefan,

Yes the board works and Pibs works with both Dimms slot in use.
The board came from AMCC and it is the latest board with the 800MHz
440GX chip on it.

The system hangs upon SDRAM initialization, but only with both dimms
slots used.

I didn't even know this problem exist until another company that is
writing a device driver for me told me that the second DIMMS slot
doesn't work on there board. Sure enough it doesn't work on mines
either.

Gerald

After you make that change you can use both dimms slot on the ocotea
board?

What error did you receive before the modification?

if I use only the second dimm slot with 256M it errors. if I use the
first dimm slot it is ok and if I use both dimms slot it error as well.

I am using 1.1.4.

first dimm slot it is ok and if I use both dimms slot it error as well.

I am using 1.1.4.

Yes, you are right. Thanks. I will fix this in a few days and add some more
tlb's to supports at least 512MB.

Stefan

No. IIRC, we have tested Ocotea with different DIMM modules. Which U-Boot
version are you using? What DIMM modules are you using? And what combination
_is_ working?

A quick look at the TLB setup shows me, that a maximum of 512MBytes could be
working. For more at least the TLB setup has to be changed.

Stefan

Does anyone know why u-boot 1.1.4 fails if you use two dimms in the
Ocotea Amcc board?

I have try two 256 dimm, two 512 dimm, and one 256 dimm in the second
slot ( nothing in the first slot) it all fails.

Is this a know problem with the Ocotea board?

I am having a problem in board.c. I realize the problem is probobly a
configuration error, and would appreciate help from those most
experienced in identifying the cause.

I am having a problem in board_init(...) in ./lib_ppc/board.c (see
except below). The problem seems to be the result of incorrect
__u_boot_cmd_start and __u_boot_cmd_end values. You see,
__u_boot_cmd_end - __u_boot_cmd_start = 0xFF01C118-0xFFff01B838 = 0x8E0
= 2272.

[cmdtp++] is preforming [cmdtp = cmdtp + 24] (as you know, cmdtp is a
pointer of type cmd_tbl_t). However, 2272 is not divisible by 24. Thus
in "for (cmdtp = &__u_boot_cmd_start; cmdtp !=  &__u_boot_cmd_end;
cmdtp++)," [cmdtp != &__u_boot_cmd_end] will always be true; cmdtp will
never equal &__u_boot_cmd_end. So, &__u_boot_cmd_end is jumped over and
cmdtp continues until it exceeds the DRAM boundary (64MB or 0x03FFFFFF)
and results in an error

U-boot is runing from RAM at this point. It had been coppied to
0x03FDF000. so __u_boot_cmd_end actually = 0x03FFb118 and
__u_boot_cmd_start actually = 0x03FFa838.

Thanks for your help,
JM

	Hello,

I've had a similar problem when booting an MPC8541E custom board.
It was caused by having configured 2 chipselects only 32K apart
(which should be supported). Changed to have 64K separation and
the problem went away. I've never investigated the issue further.

	Best Regards

I've added in board definition into it and modified the default MPC8560ADS

and step through it.? U-Boot boots up and configures the TLB and then jumps
to the proper place in FLASH to continue the load.? But it seems to go off
into the middle of nowhere when it comes to the serial_puts command.? From
the JTAG and using the memory map that U-Boot compile makes it gets into the
serial_puts function and then jumps off into main memory for some reason.?
It then halts at where the debugger says is an invalid opcode.

Has anyone seen these sorts of problems before?

Dear Peter,

please provide a *descriptive* Subject next time. And ask short and
simple questions instead of posting hundrets of lines of ighly
specific stuff which nobody will read. Maybe you should (re-) read

What makes you think the MPC8560ADS would be a good starting point?

I bet this is wrong. There are probabnly ten times more components on
your board which you did not mention that there are you did.

No. How could we? We have absolutely no idea what your hardware looks like.

How could we without even having the slightest ideas of what you have?

configuration for it.? I have been able to burn it into flash on the board,

into the middle of nowhere when it comes to the serial_puts command.? From
the JTAG and using the memory map that U-Boot compile makes it gets into the
serial_puts function and then jumps off into main memory for some reason.?
It then halts at where the debugger says is an invalid opcode.

Has anyone seen these sorts of problems before?

The board I?ve been given is very bare.? It has 256 MByte DDR Main RAM,? 32
MByte Flash (64k sectors), Ethernet on MII, and Serial on SCC1.? Nothing
else on it.

This board use to run VxWorks so I took most of the settings used for that
and modified U-boot as following (I hope someone can tell me if I did
something wrong)

Made a new directory for the board
Copied the MPC8560ADS board files to the new location
Copied include/configs/MPC8560ADS.h? to a file matching my new board.

Modified the .h file to meet the new board definitions.? Removed the SDRAM
on LBC, and the SPD_EEPROM

Modified the DDR as follows:

??? #define CFG_SDRAM_SIZE????? 256???????????? /* DDR is 256MB */
??? #define CFG_DDR_CS0_BNDS??? 0x0000000f????? /* 0-256MB */
??? #define CFG_DDR_CS0_CONFIG? 0x80000102
??? #define CFG_DDR_TIMING_1??? 0x37344321
??? #define CFG_DDR_TIMING_2??? 0x00000800????? /* P9-45,may need tuning */
??? #define CFG_DDR_CONTROL???? 0xc2000000????? /* unbuffered,no DYN_PWR */
??? #define CFG_DDR_MODE??????? 0x00000062????? /* DLL,normal,seq,4/2.5 */
??? #define CFG_DDR_INTERVAL??? 0x05100100????? /* autocharge,no open page
*/

Modified flash section as:

#define CFG_FLASH_BASE????????? 0xfe000000????? /* start of FLASH 32M */
#define CFG_BR0_PRELIM????????? 0xfe001001????? /* port size 16bit */

#define CFG_OR0_PRELIM????????? 0xfe000797????? /* 16MB Flash */
#define CFG_MAX_FLASH_BANKS???? 1?????????????? /* number of banks */
#define CFG_MAX_FLASH_SECT????? 512???????????? /* sectors per device */

Which match the settings that were used for VxWorks for this area

I left I2C alone even though the board has no I2C? when I tried to remove it
u-boot wouldn?t compile.

I then modified init.S in the board directory so the TLB looks like:

tlb1_entry:
??????? entry_start

??????? /*

???????? */
??????? .long 12

This is the same patch as you sent before, under a different subject
and desrciption.

Rejected, too.

Please be more careful what you post!

I suggest you ask the manufacturer of these boards for the PPCboot sources. They must be available (GPL).

That's not much of information.

In general U-Boot does not use interrupts.

Recently, I acquired a few surplus boards from a defunct product for
the home entertainment industry. The boards have an IBM PowerPC
405GP,support for DRAM, PCI bus cards and an onboard IDE controller
(Promise PDC20265) as well as serial and Ethernet I/O. The board
originally has PPCBoot firmware (see attachment at end of this email
for details).

The PPCBoot firmware does not seem to properly save the environment
with saveenv - it says it does, but the new contents are not there
after a "reset" command.

So, I would like to generate a version of U-Boot for the board. I
started with the current version of ELDK and files for the "walnut"
eval board. I have been able to get U-Boot to work except for a
couple of items and would like to solicit help or advice in
configuring U-Boot for the board. (Or if someone recognizes the board
and could tell me a valid model configuration to use, so much
better --Silk screen information says "Digital Home Technologies". ).

I cannot determine a proper configuration for the IDE controller. ( As
extra information, I have reconfigured the embedded linux from the
ELDK, rebuilt the kernel, and it boots ovet tftp and operates with the
IDE disk.- I just started with walnut config and added some ide
stuff - I can supply the config file if needed) U-Boot displays the
following:

I am new to ELDK, PPC, and Linux, so I need pointers to how to
proceed. I wonder if the interrupts for the IDE controller are
improperly configured, but don't see how to correct that. I apologize
if I have included too much or inappropriate information in this
message.

Thank You,

May I suggest that you use tools like grep to search the source code?

Hello Group,

I am trying to put u-boot on my Embedded Planet Board EP8248 and it
keeps looping in the initialization cycle:

U-Boot 1.1.2 (Dec 13 2004 - 21:11:34)
MPC8248 Reset Status: Check Stop, External Soft, External Hard
MPC8248 Clock Configuration
 - Bus-to-Core Mult 3.5x, VCO Div 2, 60x Bus Freq 30-85 , Core Freq
100-300
 - dfbrg 1, corecnf 0x0e, busdf 3, cpmdf 1, plldf 0, pllmf 5
 - vco_out 396000000, scc_clk 99000000, brg_clk 24750000
 - cpu_clk 231000000, cpm_clk 198000000, bus_clk 66000000
 - pci_clk 66000000

CPU: MPC8248 (HiP7 Rev 13, Mask 0.0 0K50M) at 231 MHz
Board: EP8248E 1.0 CPLD revision 2
I2C: ready
DRAM: 128 M

U-Boot 1.1.2 (Dec 13 2004 - 21:11:34)

MPC8248 Reset Status: Check Stop, External Soft, External Hard

MPC8248 Clock Configuration
......

Could you make some suggestions? I thought U-boot has been successfully
ported to EP8248 board. My board has 128Mbyte SDRAM and 64MB of flash.

Thanks,

Nguyen

Dear Cliff,

your port of U-Boot for the pxa255_idp has been broken since it was
added, without any patches / fixes in my queue? Are you still
maintaining this board? Or is it broken and orphaned and should be
removed?

Best regards,

Wolfgang Denk

This patch does not apply any more against current sources. Can you
please verify which parts are still relevant, and resubmit?

Thanks.

Here's a patch which puts the PHYs for the 3rd and 4th eTSECS into

Correct. Seems you don't have an IceCube (aka Lite5200) board. You
will have to port U-Boot to your hartware.

No. This is useless. Don't ask for a list of 50 different kernel
versions with 30 different versions of MTD code which are all wokring
in any combination.

Provide some useful, reproducable information yourself.

I used it about a year ago with NAND flash. For NOR the usage is a bit
less compelling. As the scan time is slow, you end up using an extra
partition for it anyway to keep the time down...might have almost been
in raw at that point for nor. Yaffs may be useable now for nand, but
don't think anyone has ported it in at the loader yet...

Some of the upsides is you can update using nice file based things at
the kernel level if jffs is there, and if you have the time to wait on
boot, then you can put it all in a big partition.

Richard W.

Hi,

sorry to be a pest, A while ago I posted a message asking about
support for JFFS2 within U-boot.

I didn't get a response so I'm wondering if anyone uses this feature?
in reading the code, it seems
as though there are many comments indicating that the support is a
"less than elegant" implementation.
(to be more specific they say have a paper bag ready in case you have
to puke :]

that said, does anyone use this feature.. it seems to me that it is
very useful to have and many would
want it.. on the other hand I know that the JFFS2 people have moved
forward and don't support older
kernels and thus maybe this code is out of date.. or (more likely) my
kernel is out of date.

anyway, if anyone who has some experience with using JFFS2 in concert
w/ u-boot could respond,
I would be very grateful

btw: the problems I am having seem to be related to reading symbolic
links.

thanks for you help

hello,
I?m developing under Linux 2.6.10 on the Atmel At91RM9200EK Evaluation Kit.
Now I want to bring up U-Boot 1.1.2 on the external Dataflash (AT45DB642).
I have a running (uncompressed!) U-Boot 1.1.2 on my parallel flash
(AT49BV6416), but I can?t erase
the externel dataflash. Do I need the nand utility in my u-boot commands?
Which settings are recommended in which header files to get my external
flash working?

any help would be appreciated, regards

I see. It seems your first problem is that you don't understand how
to enter a subject in the mailer?

> The first problem is that i can't find my evaluation board in config

If ther eis no config file, then there is probably no port yet. In
this case you will have to port U-Boot.

> Need i to write my board configuration?

Yes, and all the rest which is necesary to complete a port.

> what memery is needeed to uboot? i want to put it in flash memory.

memery = memory? U-Boot needs some ROM (flash is fine) and RAM to run.

Read the manual and the FAQ.

We will try to help independent of your language skills. However, you
_are_ supposed to read the documentation (README, manual, FAQ). And
before posting.

Hello!

i'm starting to use u-boot for the first time. But i encounter a lot
of dificulties.
Is there someone who can help me?. please

The first problem is that i can't find my evaluation board in config
files. how i can build u-boot withou this file?
my board is a Memec Virtex II Pro, xc2vp20-ff1152.

Need i to write my board configuration?

what memery is needeed to uboot? i want to put it in flash memory.
i want to load linux via Ethernet and write into Flash memory, how i do it?

Thanks to give me some explanations, because english is not my
language, and it is very difficult to find documentations in french.

John!

16KB is large enough to install an "Initial Program Loader" which serves
the task of loading a more feature full bootloader or the OS itself but
not much more than that. Search the U-Boot mailing archives for arguments
against reducing the size of U-Boot, it's been asked many times
before. Besides, most vedors provide NAND flash IPL source code
which does what you want already. So why bother trying to gut
U-Boot to bare essentials when your vendor probably already
supplies that code?

Please learn netiquette.

First provide a meaningful subject.

Then fix your mailer to post plaintext only.

Then find a mailing list where your request might be on topic.

This is the U-Boot mailing list. Your question is absolutely off topic here.

hello all,
i am new to embedded systems.
i am trying to build a tool chain using binutils-2.14, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2. All are downloaded from kegel.com.

i built successfully the binutils.
when i trying to built the gcc, i face the errors.
i configured gcc using the following command.

gcc-3.3.2#./configure --prefix=/usr/local/ --enable-version-specific-runtime-libs
--enable-threads=posix --enable-shared
--enable-languages=c,c++,f77,objc,java,ada --enable-libgcj
--with-gc=simple --enable-nls --enable-interpreter --with-libiconv-prefix=/usr/local/libiconv-1.8

This command is obtained from http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2003-11/msg00690.html (given in a README file)

Here it got configured and when i gave make all the following error appears.

I've used e1000, dp83815, and dp83820 PCI cards on the Sandpoint
with an mpc8245. All 3 of those drivers are polling based, and need
no interrupts.

Normally U-Boot uses polled drivers only, i. e. it does not use
interrupts.

It may mean anything. For example, you might have missed to add
DC2114x support to your configuration file.

Hello,
I am new to u-boot, but have experience with high-level programming on
Linux desktop. But this is my first time to deal with device drivers and
flash programming kind of issues. Please forgive my possible naive
questions concerning to low level hardware and kernel concepts...

We have sandpoint board with mpc8245 CPU. Our goal is to plug-in and run
an ethernet card on the PCI bus(specifically Digital DC2114x ethernet,
surely it is supported in u-boot).

I have been debugging the u-boot for a while, and I concluded that it may
be due to interrupt problems(but I may be totally wrong). And when I saw
that interrupt routines in cpu/824x/interrupt.c is not implemented yet, I
thought that "Yeahh, I found the problem". Then I saw Mr. Denk's following
mail, then I confused about the situation.

Does u-boot communicate with any hardware on PCI bus without using
interrupts. Is this the common way for u-boot (I mean u-boot ports for
different architectures, especially comparing with prort for the mpc824x
arch.).

By the way, I have to say that leds on the ethernet card did never blink
under u-boot. (Obviously it is running/blinking on some other Linux PC's).
Does it mean something informative (except that it doesn't work)...

I am completely stucked at this point. Any kind of help is very appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

U-Boot has little (or no) need for interrupts at all. What exactly
 are you trying to do?

Hi,

For our custom board, based on AT91RM9200, we wants to use
u-boot as a Linux bootloader. We do not want to use any
commercial software and hardware tools to program it. We
want to put the u-boot in the serial flash, connected to
the controller on SPI.

I found a document (doc6067.pdf) from Atmel on how to load the
u-boot to serial flash. It is a two step process, first load
an application called 'romboot.bin' then load the u-boot. It
seems 'romboot.bin' does preliminary set up, to load the u-boot
image to serial flash. The 'romboot.bin' image is built
for the Atmel board.

1.
Can I get the sources of this 'romboot.bin' or of similar
program, that can be built with GNU tools of ARM?

2.
A Metrowerks project of 'romboot.bin' is available, but it uses
some libraries (for example to have printf and scanf etc.) which
are not included in the project. Is there any way I can compile
it with GNU tools to make the complete application of
'romboot.bin'?

Thanks in advance.

regards,
chandra

Previous patch attachment had stray white space; apologies :-)

The MII PHY utility (common/miiphyutil.c) does not report network speed
and duplex mode properly if auto-negotiate is not enabled. The attached
patch checks if auto-negotiate is enabled and looks in the proper
registers based on that bit to return speed and duplex values.

* Patch by Alan J. Luse, 29 Apr 2004:
Report MII network speed and duplex setting properly when
auto-negotiate
  is not enabled.

John-

Arabella software has done a build of U-Boot for the Motorola MPC885ADS
board. I have a working binary from Arabella. I am in the process of
building my own adaptation for our hardware; the DUET_ADS_config in the
current release version is supposed to build for the MPC885ADS.

Can you prove this with a log of the exact steps you performed?

There is no "GDB in BDI2000". The BDI2000 implements GDB remote
protocol over TCP/IP. This protocol is pretty much version
independent.

I guess the later is the case.

Greetings!
I built u-boot 1.0.1 with the new MontaVista Professional Edition 3.1, Dev
Rocket Environment. It went well and I succeeded to flash the code to a
Motorola Evaluation board ( PQ2FADS-VR ). However, when I tried to debug
the code I started in start.S but after the the first jump bl in start.S I
ended up in a C file that is handling U-boot CLI commands...

I think that the GDB in BDI2000 is a 5.x version and GDB in the MontaVista
Professional Edition 3.1 is a 6.0 version ( Gcc 3.3.2 ).

Do you think that this could be a possible issue or is it only me doing
some configuration faults?

Are you really sure you want FTP, not TFTP?

TFTP is already there, just use it.

For FTP you will need a full-blown TCP/IP stack. This is a lot of
work, and little benefit over TFTP.

TFTP yes, FTP no.

Dear All,

I am porting U-Boot on a customize board with a IBM PPC405GP embedded processor on it.
At first I encountered a problem that the wait_ticks() function called by udelay() can't work,
and I replaced the assembly wait_ticks()function by a finite c loop(just count a number down). After that every thing seems ok,
until when I boot a linux kernel the kernel hang at "Calibrating delay loop... ".

The time base is configured to use internel CPU clock,

Before the init_timebase() funciton, I did:

configure the cntr0 and cntr1(CPC0_CR0 and CPC0CR1) with 0x007010c0 and 0x00004000;
configure the EBC
configure the SDRAM controller
configure OCM at 0xf8000000, and define CFG_TEMP_STACK_OCM
define CONFIG_BOARD_PRE_INIT and configure UIC

init_timebase(use the function in lib_ppc/time.c)
define CONFIG_BOARD_POSTCLK_INIT and init 405 on chip I2C interface,

here needs the udelay()function, How can I init the time base correctly?

below is the information when I tftpboot a linux kernel image :
...
memsize     = 0x02000000
flashstart  = 0xFE000000
flashsize   = 0x02000000
flashoffset = 0x00000000
sramstart   = 0x00000000
sramsize    = 0x00000000
bootflags   = 0x001E8480
procfreq    = 198.512 MHz

Is this problem related with the macro CONFIG_CLOCKS_IN_MHZ? or just because the time base is not correctly inititalized ?

hi, I have successfully compiled u-boot-1.0.0 for my target board, and debbugged it by trace32.How can I debug u-boot to start linux? I do like this, I download u-boot to my target board and download linux at th same time on another SDRAM place. How to make right linux image? I have successfully done those step, make config; make dep; make Image. How u-boot start linux? where it call linux?

So what do you expect?

You don't provide any information about the hardware, and some
fragments of code - do you by any chance expect that now sombody
volunteers and ports U-Boot to that board, based on zero information,
and for free?

I'm afraid it doesn't work like that.

Please make yourself clear and tell us what you want: on this mailing
list you can get free advice to solve specific problems etc., but if
you are looking for someone who ports U-Boot to your board you will
either have to do it yourself or ask for professional support (which
is _not_ free).

Dear :
   Thank you .
   I'm porting U-Boot to the WindRiver MDP8xx PRO board.Now I think I
should run the U-Boot on my board in the simpliest way, so I just
configed the necessary devices like FLASH ,DRAM .
I can provide anything I have ,and thank you very very much .The
include/configs/windriver.h and board/windrive/windriver.c have been
included in the attachment. The MDP8xx PRO UM is too large to be
attatched here.

Right, thanks.

Wrong settings of baudrate, bits/char, stop bits, parity?

The so-called "desktop metaphor" of today's workstations is instead
an "airplane-seat" metaphor. Anyone who has shuffled a lap full of
papers while seated between two portly passengers will recognize the
difference -- one can see only a very few things at once.

Hello,
As I have understood questions about the former ppcboot and
the new U-boot should be posted on this list?

I have a problem with the PPCBoot-1.2.0.

What happens is that I only get garbage on the terminal
output screen whatever settings I am using in minicom,
hyperterminal or /dev/ttyb in solaris..

I have a board from BroadCom with mpc824x , I can see in the boards LCD screen that it boots and the garbage that

I have a board from BroadCom with mpc824x , I can see in the boards LCD screen that it boots and the garbage that
comes on the screen seems to have somekind of a pattern
like a five second counter before it tries to download the
linux kernel image...however I cant type in anything because
e.g the enter key gives '-' characters..

Hi,

I would like to get rid of some obsolete code which is only good to
cause confusion:

include/mpc75x.h:

        only referenced in board/eltec/bab7xx/asm_init.S;
dangerous since it contains broken #defines for BATL_*

	Can I replace this by include/74xx_7xx.h ?

include/mpc74xx.h:

only referenced in comments in include/configs/ELPPC.h,
	include/configs/EVB64260.h, include/configs/ZUMA.h

	Can I replace this by include/74xx_7xx.h ?

Best regards,

Wolfgang Denk
