* Serious problem with Promise controller cards, 2.6.0-test[78]

Last Friday I had a system crash, and I traced the problem to a Promise
PDC20269 ATA133 card. I replaced it with a spare PDC20268 ATA100 card,
recompiled linux-2.6.0-test8 with CONFIG_BLK_DEV_PDC202XX_OLD=y and later
suffered the same failure again.

This is on a Tyan S2885 K8W motherboard, x86_64 (Opteron) SMP system with
only a single CPU installed. The Promise cards were in a PCI-X slot that
is supposed to be backwards compatible with PCI (I had to set some jumpers
for that). They did work for a while. The problem is that when the
interface is stressed, it simply stops working and does not recover. For
now I'm restoring from backups and running all my IDE disks through the
motherboard controller.

The syslog data, complete kernel config, and lspci -vv output are
attached. I'd be happy to send any other information upon request. The
"secondary channel reset" messages often continue, and that interface
never recovers. The primary channel (which is the motherboard) seems to be
fine.
