For me the hang happens always when running the 'mogrify' command line tool from imagemagick. It is compiled to use *OpenCL* when available. I have ope= ncl installed, from Mesa clover. Using radeon RX560. When I disallowed access to /dev/dri/card* for the user running this progra= m, then hangs stopped. I think the problems started when I upgraded the system LLVM from 5.0.1 to 6.0 and rebuilt Mesa (I'm using git checkouts). Before t= hat, mogrify with OpenCL didn't hang the GPU and was running fine.
