I experience the mouse cursor disappearance often on my laptop with NVidia GeForce Go 6100 chip after the screen blanking. Although, it has never happened on my desktop PC with NVidia GeForce 7300GT (I use Nouveau driver for it as well). Some time ago somebody suggested me to set the 'HWCursor' option off, and it seemed to prevent the cursor from disappearing, but now I cannot turn this option off again because X-server does not start at all in this case.
