It is not strictly necessary, but it would increase confidence that we found the culprit. I don't know how easy or hard it is to reproduce for you, so skip if this it too much work. But in case you can reproduce it, I pushed v4.14 with the (indeed non-trivial) revert to https://github.com/wdebruij/linux/commits/v4.14-revert-copyubufs If only time for either this or the WARN_ONCE instrumentation, then that variant is more helpful.
