I think it's related to this bug, it started with the kernel 3.17 (Like the OP, I did update mesa, llvm, libdrm, glamor...) going back to 3.16 did not fix it, I got to downgrade Mesa and LLVM too (to the first relase of the first of this month to be sure) and after that, I played for like 4 hours without any issue. Yes.
