After giving it a try with the Other OS and seeing that it still didn't wor= k, I inspected the connectors at the rear of the computer and realized that this= new Radeon has its HDMI ports positioned differently: the HDMI cables would nev= er get fully inserted because they would get blocked by a protruding piece of = the chassis! Solution: hack it with a knife. My previous Radeon card didn't have this physical problem so I wrongly thou= ght the newer radeonsi drivers simply had a bug that was not present with the r= 600.
