Comme= nt # 191 on bug 91880<= /a> from notog@amail.club
I did some more testing this time with Arch Linux, I started w=
ith kernel
4.16.6-1, and went back two months, one month at a time using the Arch Linux
Archive. I never ran into an issue.
It would seem that this issue might have been fixed a few months ago.

The solution is to switch from Radeon, to AMDGPU. It seems that AMDGPU DPM =
is
needed to fix the issue entirely, at least in my case.

device: MSI R9 390 Gaming 8G
distro: Arch Linux
kernel: 4.16.6-1, 4.15.13-1 and 4.15.5-1
mesa: 18.0.2-1, 17.3.7-1 and 17.3.5-1
xorg-server: 1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-1
xf86-video-amdgpu: 18.0.1-1 and 1.4.0-1

In all cases I appended the following kernel arguments: radeon.cik_support=
=3D0
amdgpu.cik_support=3D1 amdgpu.dpm=3D1 amdgpu.dc=3D1

radeon.cik_support=3D0 Disables Radeon CIK(Sea Island) Support
amdgpu.cik_support=3D1 Enables AMDGPU CIK(Sea Island) Support
amdgpu.dpm=3D1 Enables DPM support
amdgpu.dc=3D1 Enables Display Core driver
