I could suspend in the middle of playback and xmms would keep playing after resume as if nothing happend at all. After switching to the 2.6 kernel, currently running 2.6.5, I also switched to ALSA beeing the new sound architecture of choice. Unforunately now when I suspend and resume my notebook sound stops working at all. Sometimes unloading all ALSA modules helps, sometimes even that is not possible anymore. ====================================================================== Relationships ID Summary ---------------------------------------------------------------------- has duplicate 0000226 Sound hangs after APM resume ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rlrevell - 03-01-06 04:14 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, we may be on to something. Register 26 is: #define AC97_POWER_CONTROL 0x0026 But, AFAICT bit 0x8000 should only affect the modem. After resume try: echo 26 800f > /proc/asound/card0/codec97#0/ac97#0-0+regs Does it restore your sound? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cull - 03-01-06 04:45 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- no, doesn't help. now cat /proc/asound/card0/codec97#0/ac97#0-0+regs the same as before sleep, but there is no sound. However I there is a message appears in dmesg: ALSA /usr/src/alsa/1.0.11rc3/alsa-driver-1.0.11rc3/acore/../alsa-kernel/core/pcm_lib.c:2231: playback write error (DMA or IRQ trouble?) Not sure at which moment exactly, but after suspend. I'll try to repeat this and report more exatcly.
