Are the reported discard limits different on kernels predating that
commit?

Please send the output of:

# grep . /sys/block/sdN/queue/discard_* /sys/block/sdN/device/scsi_disk/*/*_mode
# sg_readcap -l /dev/sdN
# sg_vpg -p bl /dev/sdN
# sg_vpg -p lbpv /dev/sdN

Ideally (for the grep) before and after the offending commit.
