hi,
this patchset does preparation work for adding d_path helper,
which still needs more work, but the initial set of patches
is ready and useful to have.

This patchset adds:
  - support to generate BTF ID lists that are resolved during
kernel linking and usable within kernel code with following
    macros:

      BTF_ID_LIST(bpf_skb_output_btf_ids)
      BTF_ID(struct, sk_buff)

and access it in kernel code via:
      extern u32 bpf_skb_output_btf_ids[];

  - resolve_btfids tool that scans elf object for .BTF_ids
section and resolves its symbols with BTF ID values
  - resolving of bpf_ctx_convert struct and several other
    objects with BTF_ID_LIST

v6 changes:
  - added acks
  - added general make rule to resolve_btfids Build [Andrii]
  - renamed .BTF.ids to .BTF_ids [Andrii]
  - added --no-fail option to resolve_btfids [Andrii]
  - changed resolve_btfids test to work over BTF from object
file, so we don't depend on vmlinux BTF [Andrii]
  - fixed few typos [Andrii]
  - fixed the out of tree build [Andrii]

The resolve_btfids tool scans elf object for .BTF_ids section
and resolves its symbols with BTF ID values.

It will be used to during linking time to resolve arrays of BTF
ID values used in verifier, so these IDs do not need to be
resolved in runtime.

The expected layout of .BTF_ids section is described in main.c
header. Related kernel changes are coming in following changes.

Build issue reported by 0-DAY CI Kernel Test Service.

The resolve_btfids tool will be used during the vmlinux linking,
so it's necessary it's ready for it.

Adding support to generate .BTF_ids section that will hold BTF
ID lists for verifier.

Adding macros that will help to define lists of BTF ID values
placed in .BTF_ids section. They are initially filled with zeros
(during compilation) and resolved later during the linking phase
by resolve_btfids tool.

Following defines list of one BTF ID value:

  BTF_ID_LIST(bpf_skb_output_btf_ids)
  BTF_ID(struct, sk_buff)

It also defines following variable to access the list:

  extern u32 bpf_skb_output_btf_ids[];

The BTF_ID_UNUSED macro defines 4 zero bytes. It's used when we
want to define 'unused' entry in BTF_ID_LIST, like:

  BTF_ID_LIST(bpf_skb_output_btf_ids)
  BTF_ID(struct, sk_buff)
  BTF_ID_UNUSED
  BTF_ID(struct, task_struct)

Using BTF_ID_LIST macro to define lists for several helpers
using BTF arguments.

And running resolve_btfids on vmlinux elf object during linking,
so the .BTF_ids section gets the IDs resolved.

Now when we moved the helpers btf_id arrays into .BTF_ids section,
we can remove the code that resolve those IDs in runtime.

This way the ID is resolved during compile time,
and we can remove the runtime name search.

+4.2 .BTF_ids section
+====================
+
+The .BTF_ids section encodes BTF ID values that are used within the kernel.
+
+This section is created during the kernel compilation with the help of
+macros defined in ``include/linux/btf_ids.h`` header file. Kernel code can
+use them to create lists and sets (sorted lists) of BTF ID values.
+
+The ``BTF_ID_LIST`` and ``BTF_ID`` macros define unsorted list of BTF ID values,
+with following syntax::
+
+ BTF_ID_LIST(list)
+ BTF_ID(type1, name1)
+ BTF_ID(type2, name2)
+
+resulting in following layout in .BTF_ids section::
+
+ __BTF_ID__type1__name1__1:
+ .zero 4
+ __BTF_ID__type2__name2__2:
+ .zero 4
+
+The ``int list[];`` variable is defined to access the list.
+
+The ``BTF_ID_UNUSED`` macro defines 4 zero bytes. It's used when we
+want to define unused entry in BTF_ID_LIST, like::
+
+ BTF_ID_LIST(bpf_skb_output_btf_ids)
+ BTF_ID(struct, sk_buff)
+ BTF_ID_UNUSED
+ BTF_ID(struct, task_struct)
+
+All the BTF ID lists and sets are compiled in the .BTF_ids section and
+resolved during the linking phase of kernel build by ``resolve_btfids`` tool.

It will be needed by bpf selftest for resolve_btfids tool.

Also adding __PASTE macro as btf_ids.h dependency, which is
defined in:

  include/linux/compiler_types.h

but because tools/include do not have this header, I'm putting
the macro into linux/compiler.h header.

Adding resolve_btfids test under test_progs suite.

It's possible to use btf_ids.h header and its logic in
user space application, so we can add easy test for it.

The test defines BTF_ID_LIST and checks it gets properly
resolved.

For this reason the test_progs binary (and other binaries
that use TRUNNER* macros) is processed with resolve_btfids
tool, which resolves BTF IDs in .BTF_ids section. The BTF
data are taken from btf_data.o object rceated from
progs/btf_data.c.

You've missed fixing bpf_get_task_stack_proto with your
BTF_IDS_LIST/BTF_ID macro. It's currently failing in subtests. With
BTF_IDS_LIST/BTF_ID trivial fix it works again. Please fix that before
this can be applied.

btf_data.c could also use some name-conflicting entries, just to make
sure that kind (struct vs typedef) is taken into account. Maybe just
add some dummy `typedef int S;` or something?

So with the above, please add for the next revision:

ugh.. moving fast ;-) some of the selftests are failing for me
on regular basis, I overlooked this one, sry

sure.. and I had to change resolve_btfids a bit because of that,
so I'll not add your ack to first patch yet

I'll send the new version shortly

thanks,
