+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #110035 +++ I have a freshly-installed Ubuntu 18.04.2 on my machine with a Radeon VII and I want to install AMDGPU-PRO drivers on it. The driver installation completes without problems, but after I reboot the system, I can't log in : the system performs cyclic filesystem checks without proceeding to the login screen. I have verified that it is the AMDGPU-PRO driver which causes the issue: when I go to the second constole (with no graphics) and run amdgpu-pro-uninstall and the reboot, the system works fine again. I have tried Linux kernels 4.18.15-generic and 4.15.46 generic - the behavior is the same.
