I have not set 'blocking' only because not all users are affected. In any case, my experiment of reformatting the partition did not eliminate the problem and shows that it is probably more common than a corner case. The 5.15 LTS kernel will go EoF in October, I hope the bug will be fixed by then. Aside from that, I wonder if an analysis of the differences between the 5.17 and 5.18 kernels shows where the problem lies.
