Performance :-) that compare is going to be useless roughly 100% of the
time.

Is there no means of teaching the compiler about these magical
functions? There's only two possible stubs:

  void foo(...)
  {
  }

and

  unsigned long bar(...)
  {
	return 0;
  }

Both exist in the kernel. We can easily give them a special function
attribute to call them out.
