That only works with unsigned long types. It blows up on riscv builds as this 0-day report states. I think we are fine just making the two variables unsigned long and have done so, please check and get back to me if this is a problem. Pushed out as testing for the autobuilders to try it yet again and see what new issue they turn up. This one had me scratching my head for some time. > Subject: [iio:testing 75/96] include/linux/compiler_types.h:319:38: error: call to '__compiletime_assert_229' declared with attribute error: BUILD_BUG failed > > > tree: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jic23/iio.git testing > head: 4b2f9499f323905a09734380d4b80800df1a5a50 > commit: da7a2605058e13d1e5a1bdacab6d89897086ab65 [75/96] iio: accel: adxl372: Add support for FIFO peak mode > config: riscv-randconfig-r011-20200901 (attached as .config) > compiler: riscv32-linux-gcc (GCC) 9.3.0 > reproduce (this is a W=1 build): > wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/intel/lkp-tests/master/sbin/make.cross -O ~/bin/make.cross > chmod +x ~/bin/make.cross > git checkout da7a2605058e13d1e5a1bdacab6d89897086ab65 > # save the attached .config to linux build tree > COMPILER_INSTALL_PATH=$HOME/0day COMPILER=gcc-9.3.0 make.cross ARCH=riscv > > If you fix the issue, kindly add following tag as appropriate > Reported-by: kernel test robot > > All errors (new ones prefixed by >>): > > In file included from : > drivers/iio/accel/adxl372.c: In function 'adxl372_write_event_config': > >> include/linux/compiler_types.h:319:38: error: call to '__compiletime_assert_229' declared with attribute error: BUILD_BUG failed > 319 | _compiletime_assert(condition, msg, __compiletime_assert_, __COUNTER__) > | ^ > include/linux/compiler_types.h:300:4: note: in definition of macro '__compiletime_assert' > 300 | prefix ## suffix();
