- manual exposure/gain(analog and digital) control support
- two link frequencies
- VBLANK/HBLANK support
- test pattern support
- media controller support
- runtime PM support
- enable Vsync signal output
- supported resolutions
+ 3280x2464 at 30FPS
+ 1640x1232 at 30FPS

--Modify the type of variables buf_i/var_i to "unsigned int" in
ov8856_write_reg().
--Add link_validate function.
--Remove "ifdef CONFIG_ACPI" in ov8856_i2c_driver{}.
--Move ov8856_check_hwcfg() to the top of ov8856_probe().
--Remove unnecessary blank lines.
--Remove unnecessary V4L2_SUBDEV_FL_HAS_EVENTS flag.
--Enable Vsync signal output.

The two lines above can be simplified into one put_unaligned_be16(reg, buf);

All the code above can be simplified into:
val <<= 8 * (4 - len);
put_unaligned_be32(val, buf + 2);

Hi Ben,
You are referring to older type of sensor i2c control. You can refer to IMX258 driver.
drivers/media/i2c/imx258.c
/* Write registers up to 2 at a time */
static int imx258_write_reg(struct imx258 *imx258, u16 reg, u32 len, u32 val)
{
struct i2c_client *client = v4l2_get_subdevdata(&imx258->sd);
u8 buf[6];
if (len > 4)
return -EINVAL;
put_unaligned_be16(reg, buf);
put_unaligned_be32(val << (8 * (4 - len)), buf + 2);
if (i2c_master_send(client, buf, len + 2) != len + 2)
return -EIO;
return 0;
}
Regards, Andy
