Hi all,

Changes since 20190806:

The arm64 tree introduced a patch that stopped the powerpc ppc64_defconfig
build from completing so I reverted that commit.

The mips tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.

The crypto tree still had its build failure for which I applied a patch.

The drm-misc tree gained a conflict and a sematic conflct against the
amdgpu tree.

The integrity tree lost its build failure.

The akpm-current tree gained a conflict against the arm64 tree and a
build failure for which I reverted a commit.

The akpm tree lost a patch that turned up elsewhere.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 4586
 4952 files changed, 265168 insertions(+), 120665 deletions(-)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc, an allmodconfig for x86_64, a
multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a native build of tools/perf. After
the final fixups (if any), I do an x86_64 modules_install followed by
builds for x86_64 allnoconfig, powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit),
ppc44x_defconfig, allyesconfig and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig. And finally, a simple boot test of the powerpc
pseries_le_defconfig kernel in qemu (with and without kvm enabled).

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 304 trees (counting Linus' and 74 trees of bug
fix patches pending for the current merge release).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

Stephen Rothwell

I've just posted a series of fixes for netfilter header compilation
failures, and I think it includes the fix for that:

Thanks for the report.

Shall I resend the patch, or shall I send fix on top of current patch?

Either is OK. If the difference is small I will turn it into an
incremental patch so that I (and others) can see what changed.

Please find the patch to fix this at the end of this email. It applies
right on top of "khugepaged: enable collapse pmd for pte-mapped THP".
It may conflict a little with the "Enable THP for text section of
non-shmem files" set, which renames function khugepaged_scan_shmem().

Also, I found v3 of the set in linux-next. The latest is v4:

Thanks,

Without CONFIG_SHMEM, we need dummy khugepaged_collapse_pte_mapped_thps.

OK, that will take care of the build error that I am still seeing
when SHMEM is not enabled:

This was broken by one of my other patch. Sorry!

The following patch (on top of linux-next/master) fixes it.

The series is now in the mainline (and will form part of 5.4-rc1). Greg
has queued the patch that fixes this build-failure for 5.3-stable:

  https://lore.kernel.org/netfilter-devel/20190921112145.GA2408749@kroah.com/T/

so it should be in 5.3.2.
