The reason I needed any raw register pokes at all is because I don't have a sysctl / fpioa driver, and didn't feel like writing one at this time, so just write the appropriate values to the registers to map the UART1 to the correct pins and enable WIFI_EN. After setting up those, Linux's driver works as-is for the UART! Wladimir
