I applied both patches:

usb: dwc3: Trigger a GCTL soft reset when switching modes in DRD

usb: dwc3: Fix DRD mode change sequence following programming guide

It doesn't have an effect on the need to unplug/replug neither on the 
problems switch from host/device mode.

But it doesn't hurt either.
