So I have checked this, starting with the Walkman connected in DAC 
mode, so it is only seen in DAC mode. Pop OS updates the sound settings 
so that the Walkman is the selected output device. It does not show as 
muted. Within ALSA Mixer, I see that HDA Intel PCM is first, and then 
the WALKMAN device, however when selecting WALKMAN I get "This sound 
device does not have any controls".
