After booting 2.6.0-test4, i get the following error when trying to
initialise cardmgr:

orinoco_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use

I couldn't see anything changed in the config that could have caused
this.

Please check that you have: CONFIG_ISA=y

Hi!

I just tested the test4-mm1 version of the kernel, it works quite well,
except for a couple of things:

1) ALSA modules for emu10k1 are working, but the sound is kind of noisy
on xmms.

2) I cannot succesfully start X with "nvidia" propietary modules, Xfree
worked with the "nv" driver, but my mouse is not getting the scrollball
to work. I used test1-mm* and all of thise worked, sound wasnt a lot
better than now, but it was better.

Any sugestions ?, attached config and lsmod.
Max

Hi again,

I'm currently back in -test3, since it's the most recent version
	to give me working pcmcia.

	orinoco_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use

is what gets printed on insertion, both in 2.4.22 and -test4.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I might have
	mis-configured?

	cheers,

	iain

Hallo again,

Just wondering if anyone has any insights into what's going wrong with
my pcmcia in both 2.4.22 and 2.6.0-test4.

orinoco_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use

is the error I get on inserting my wireless card.

thanks,

iain

There's a patch on pcmcia.arm.linux.org.uk for 2.6.0-test4 which gets
some more information about what went wrong. Could you apply it and
report the kernel messages please?

the output the patch should've sent didn't show up in dmesg at all...

I had the same error message as before.

does that indicate anything helpful?

cheers,

Oh dear.

It could mean one of two things - either we don't have any interrupts
available at all, or orinoco already claimed its interrupt before...

Could you try the updated debugging patch there please? It should
print something extra no matter what.

Could you also provide the kernel messages which include the
initialisation of your PCMCIA or CardBus bridge please?

are these the right lines?

=======================================================================
cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0x0cff: clean.
cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x08ff: clean.
cs: IO port probe 0x0100-0x04ff: excluding 0x3c0-0x3df 0x4d0-0x4d7
cs: IO port probe 0x0a00-0x0aff: clean.
cs: memory probe 0xa0000000-0xa0ffffff: clean.
cs: request irq: pci irq 11 mask 0090
orinoco_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use
=======================================================================

that's from my boot sequence - I pulled and inserted the card and got
the last two lines again.

cheers,

Ok, I'm mostly happy that it isn't a generic PCMCIA bug as such now -
it seems that orinoco_cs may be passing a mask which doesn't include
any reasonable IRQs, or the two available IRQs (7 and 4) are already
in use by other devices.

Hmm, I wonder if we could fall back to the PCI IRQ when this occurs.
Unfortunately I can't look into the issue as deeply as I'd like at
present, so I'll create a "wouldn't it be nice if" (WIBNI) list of
things to do on pcmcia.arm.linux.org.uk.

Sorry to harass again, I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do
to help fix this issue - I'd hate to be stuck on test3 forever! :)
