Each peer can create an endpoint for communicating with the other. QMI defines a way for the format of messages sent between endpoints to be described, and uses a service to route and deliver these messages. For IPA, QMI is used to synchronize the startup sequence of the IPA drivers resident on the AP and modem. The documentation in "ipa_qmi.c" below provides more detail about the message interchange involved. The IPA QMI code is divided into the "main" code that implements message handling and synchronization, and the message code that defines the structure and layout of the messages used.
