Thus, the code was wrapped inside "if" container: if (state.event == PM_EVENT_SUSPEND) { } After binding it with dev_pm_ops variable, pm->suspend() is invoked by just pci_pm_suspend() which is required. So I removed the "if" container and bind the callback with pm->suspend pointer only. Using SET_SYSTEM_PM_OPS will bring back the extra step of invoking gxfb_suspend() for freeze and poweroff, even though the function will do nothing in that case.
