* UDF Support interfering with IDE boot?

Hello there,

I've been struggling for the last few hours or so with a new build of 
2.6.10 on a machine where 2.6.9
boots fine (I have both in a lilo config menu.)  When I boot 2.6.10,  I 
get the following error:


UDF-fs:  No partition found (1)
Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS:  Unable to mount root fs on unknown 
block(3,1)


I am curious, is there a quick fix for this?   Under 2.6.9 I have a 
successful boot.
(see below for 2.6.9 dmesg output)

As a follow up to my own post,  I built a kernel without UDF support to 
test my theory and found that the boot failed with the same error,
"unknown block".  So now I am in the process of building a new kernel 
after starting from my old config.gz from /proc.   At least I know that UDF
support had nothing to do with the problem.
