This leaves me holding

a97_plugin_wm97xx	-	waiting final device assignment
hal2 -	For SGI. Not sure if its needed
as there is good ALSA support
harmony -	For PARISC. Same comment as hal2

and the config fixes which depend on the hal2/harmony decision. What
would the maintainers prefer - merge them or rely on the ALSA ones ?

It also leaves cs4281 differently broken to before. That needs a lot
more work but I'm digging into it currently

Did anyone ever fix all the crud in audigy?

ALSA hal2 driver is not merged to 2.5 tree yet.
the same reason, not tested and not maintained well...

this one is already there.

do you mean audigy2 (and ex)?
at least on ALSA, they are functional but the mixer response is pretty
strage, since they have different routing from sb live and audigy1.
above all, the digital i/o doesn't work well yet.

there is a DSP loader working on audigy, so the configuration can be
changed dynamically. perhaps in the future version, all dsp codes
would go out of kernel.
