Hi,

I just compiled v3.12-rc4 on my other device and rebooted it. It does
not find my WLAN-Chip!

The log (at /var/log/kern.log) says

    ath5k phy0: Atheros AR2425 chip found (MAC: 0xe2, PHY: 0x70)

for the _old_ kernel (3.2.0-4-amd64). The new Kernel does not bring up
such a line in the log.

How to submit this to the lkml / or to (which?) appropriate
sub-mailinglist? Which information to include?

3.2 to 3.12 is a long time - 2 1/2 years. Are you able to test any
intermediate kernels (3.10 or 3.11 would narrow things down a *lot)?

I used to submit bug reports to https://bugzilla.kernel.org/index.cgi . It
will send your report to the right mail lists.

Hi,

The appropriate list for these questions is linux-wireless at vger.kernel.org. AR2425 is clearly supported
by the ath5k driver; have you tried modprobe ath5k?

Please do note that -rc kernels often introduce changes that break things, and the wireless subsystem
is not an exception. If ath5k doesn't work for you in your kernel, try 3.11.4.
