As we're about to move things around, let's start with the low
level read/write functions. This allows us to use these functions
in the errata handling code without having to use forward declaration
of static functions.

As we're about to move things around, let's start with the low
level read/write functions. This allows us to use these functions
in the errata handling code without having to use forward declaration
of static functions.
